Jesus return in the gospels

The gospels

The gospels of Jesus Christ are important books in the bible. These books, Matthew, Marc, Luke and John give us first-hand stories about the life of Jesus Christ. He lived in this world without sins and died for our sins. He rose again and will come back to judge the living and the death. While on earth Jesus shared a lot of stories about His return in the gospels.

When we repent of our sins and believe in Him he forgives us, fills us with His spirit and transforms us into more of Him. As long as we allow him. Free will is an important concept for God about us.

Jesus return in the gospels

In the gospels, Jesus talks quite a few times about his return, and it is the theme of many of his parables.

Especially Mark 13 and Matthew 24 give us some insights. Let us read a part of Matthew 24:

Matthew 24 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Before He returns

So wars, famines, pestilences and earthquakes are the beginning of sorrows before He comes. it will be a difficult time and many will stop following Jesus, as is written in verse 12. Make sure you are part of the harvest!

After these verses, Jesus told 4 parables:

Bible verseParable
Matthew 24:42-44The homeowner and the thief
Matthew 24:45-51The good and wicked servants
Matthew 25:1-13The 10 virgins
Matthew 25:14-30The talents

In these parables, Jesus encourages us to walk in his ways, fulfil the great commission and use the talents and gifts he has given us.

Summary

When Jesus will come back the world will be in turmoil, and many will stop following Him. whatever happens in the world, it is about the relationship you have with him. In the end that’s the only thing that counts.
